Waikumete

This project at Waikumete cemetery combined the creation of a new natural burial area with the restoration and extension of the rare gumland scrub ecosystem which is a noted habitat for the Auckland green gecko. The existing scrub was enhanced and buffered at the edges and was extended into perviously mown grass adjacent areas which also acommodated the plot locations for natural burials. The project won a award for creative cemetery design.
